Safe Dating Tips
🏢 Meet in Public
Always meet new dates in public places like coffee shops, restaurants, or parks. Avoid private locations until you've established trust.
📱 Tell Someone Your Plans
Let a friend or family member know where you're going, who you're meeting, and when you expect to be back. Share your location with trusted contacts.
🚗 Arrange Your Own Transportation
Drive yourself or use rideshare. Don't rely on your date for transportation, especially on first dates.
💰 Never Send Money
Never send money to someone you've met online, no matter how convincing their story. Romance scammers often create elaborate situations to request money.
🚨 Trust Your Instincts
If something feels wrong, it probably is. Don't hesitate to end a date early or block someone who makes you uncomfortable.
Avoiding Romance Scams
Watch out for these red flags:
- They can't meet in person due to elaborate excuses
- They profess love very quickly
- They ask for money or gift cards
- Their story has inconsistencies
- They avoid video calls
- They claim to be military, doctors abroad, or oil rig workers
